On 21 July 2000, 11-year-old Christopher Sharrat died after falling from a ride vehicle on the 'Space Invader' roller-coaster. He was reported to have possibly panicked on the dark ride and unfastened his seatbelt. Following an investigation police were confident that the death was accidental. The child in this case did not die from decapitation and rather fell from the ride. From what I remember the story goes that a boy stood up on a roller coaster at the Blackpool Pleasure beach and subsequently got decapitated, the ride in question is I think the now closed Space Invader.

It temporarily shut in 2003 and was refurbished by KumbaK Coasters to reopen as Space Invader 2 in 2004.
It permanently closed at the Pleasure Beach in 2008, and was sold to Brean Theme Park in Somerset, where it reopened in 2011 as Astro Storm.

On 8 September 2008, riders were evacuated from Space Invader 2, and the roller coaster did not reopen. The ride remained in place until 2010, when it was sold to Brean Theme Park. Operated from 21 August 1984 to 2008. The roller coaster opened at Blackpool Pleasure Beach on 21 August 1984, was closed in 2008 and it was relocated to Brean Leisure Park in mid-2010. Space Invader began operation in 1984. The building that housed Space Invader 2 still stands today.

In September 2008, the ride closed following a failed evacuation during operating hours. The ride was removed in June 2010 and announced to be sold to Brean Leisure Park in July 2010.
