The Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare has just announced the launch of a brand-new, unique attraction this spring. The Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare Launches ‘The Heart of Weston’ Just in Time for Valentine’s Day. Located on the iconic Grand Pier in Weston super Mare, this magnificent heart-shaped structure invites visitors of all ages to share a special. We opted for the Pier’s Grand Hall to hold an event to Celebrate the 60th Anniversary of our Rugby Club. Our family really enjoyed using the wristbands and our children were able to enjoy the rides as much as they wanted. The pier itself is well set out, without being cramped. We went as a family of seven, what a lovely pier, the attractions kept the kids entertained for a few hours. The Grand Pier is an absolute delight, pretty much everything you need to indulge in the child within.

Southend Pier is the city’s most treasured, historical icon as well as being the longest pleasure pier in the world. It stretches for 1.33 miles out into the Thames Estuary, putting Southend on the map as well as into the record books. An extension opened in 1898 made Southend Pier the longest pleasure pier in the world at 1.3miles (7080ft). Southend Pier is a true survivor, having lived through numerous fires, boat crashes, and two world wars. The current iron pier was completed in 1889, at a cost of almost £70,000 (equivalent to £9,584,229 today). A single track electric railway started running the length of the pier, and was the first pier railway in the country.

Perhaps one of the country's best known piers, Blackpool Central Pier was built in 1867, opening to the public in 1868. The top 10 piers wouldn't be complete without mentioning the Grade-II listed Brighton Palace Pier, which opened in 1899. It stands to define Brighton as a holiday destination. Southend-On-Sea is home to the longest pier in Britain. In 1846, at one and a quarter miles, it was the longest in Europe. The Isle of Wight’s Ryde Pier is renowned as the oldest in Britain, opening in July 1814. Brighton pier is thriving as a tourist attraction and shows how modern developments have impacted piers. Blackpool Central Pier was famous before the Second World War for the open-air dancing held there, and continues to entertain with its 108-foot big wheel and various fairground activities.
