St Pancras International gets loads of love for being such a magical-looking train station. Its Victorian Gothic design, though nearly 200-years-old, never looks old or tired no matter how many times you see it. If you thought St Pancras was magical, wait ‘til your train comes to a stop in Edinburgh (Waverley) station. Scotland’s never shied away from its fantastical nature and placing this circa-1840s station between Old Town and New Town enchantingly keeps the past and present of the Scottish capital linked. We bet Shrewsbury railway station wasn’t on your Trainline bingo card, but this 19th-century Shropshire train station is a beauty for you to seek out. Designed to match the Victorian architecture of the town’s school, Shrewsbury station also mimics the charm of Oxford and Cambridge colleges.

Huddersfield train station, one of the most beautiful stations in the UK, is in the midst of a multimillion-pound makeover. The 177-year-old, Grade I-listed is frankly glorious, with its unmistakable neo-classical entrance. In our ranking of the UK’s most beautiful train stations, Huddersfield came eighth. And who could deny Huddersfield’s beauty?

Wemyss Bay Station is a small village station in Scotland and opened in 1865. It featured in the book Britain's 100 Best Railway Stations, and was only one of 10 to be given the full five stars. It was also rated highly in the World Cup of Stations, an annual competition every year. One tourist wrote on TripAdvisor: "One of 'must see' railway stations in the World". Another said: "The most beautiful station I’ve ever been to." A third agreed: "It's a tourist attraction in itself." Its most famous feature is the huge glass and steel roof, created by Scottish architect James Miller who was also behind Glasgow station. Sadly very little of the original features remain as it was rebuilt in 1903 to increase its capacity.
