A video has surfaced of what appears to be a dolphin diving in and out of the sea in Blackpool. In the video, taken by Blackpool Beach Patrol Team, we see what appears to be a dolphin close to the promenade shore line. A spokesperson for the team said: Dolphins have been spotted by our Beach Patrol Team earlier today. One person said: I saw them about an hour ago by the glitter ball. It is not the first time a dolphin has been spotted in Lancashire’s seas. The Irish Sea, off the Lancashire coast, is home to several species of the dolphin family, including the common dolphin, bottlenose dolphin, and Risso's dolphin.

Dolphins are common along the coastline of Blackpool but visitors to the town were treated to a rare display on Thursday morning with around 50 of the aquatic mammals being spotted close to the coast. Many holidaymakers to Blackpool long to get a glimpse of a dolphin or two when walking along the famous promenade, however a pod of around 50 dolphins was caught on film by the Blackpool Council beach patrol team last week. This display came after a few days of relatively calm tides and warmer Blackpool weather and is the latest – albeit by far the largest – pods of dolphins to be seen in recent years along the Blackpool coastline. In June 2022 a pod of dolphins were spotted close to the shoreline while two months later two bottle-nosed dolphins and a calf were spotted alongside Ainsdale Beach. This latest display has been welcomed and will surely result in holidaymakers keeping a closer eye on the Irish Sea in the hope of spotting the dolphins return south again in the coming days or weeks. The Beach Patrol team got excellent footage of the dolphins but did you see them or get any photos and videos.

A pod of around 50 dolphins was captured on film on the Blackpool coast. The dolphins were heading north when they were seen jumping out of the water. A pod of dolphins were seen on the Blackpool shores in June last year while two Bottle-Nosed Dolphin adults and a calf were seen passing Ainsdale beach in August 2022. DOLPHINS SPOTTED. A pod of around 50 dolphins were seen heading north earlier today opposite Beach Patrol HQ, a great spot by our Beach Patrol team. The footage was taken by the council's Beach Patrol team on Thursday. It comes after several days of warmed weather and calmer tides on the seafront.

A pod of dolphins has been creating excitement on Blackpool waterfront this week after warm weather and calm tides tempted the mammals close to the shore. Indeed one of the dolphins created something of a splash by gliding in and out of the water in front of amazed onlookers and it is expected that there will be many more sightings throughout the summer. Pods of dolphins were spotted regularly along the Fylde coast last year and a video showed them jumping in and out of the water to the north of the town. Blackpool’s Irish Sea coast is home to five different species of dolphin, including the Common Dolphin, Risso’s Dolphin, Bottlenose Dolphin, Minke Whale and Harbour Porpoise. In 2020, Bottlenose Dolphins were seen by hundreds of holidaymakers around Blackpool’s shores and these were captured in many photographs and videos. To get the best chance of spotting dolphins along Blackpool Promenade, take a stroll during warm and calm weather and look out to the Irish Sea. They do sometimes venture close to the shore but take a pair of binoculars and look for any breaks in the water.

Dolphins have again been spotted off the coast of Blackpool. A new video shared by Blackpool Council shows dolphins leaping out of the water. It was filmed by the Beach Patrol Team who spotted the dolphins from the Prom near St Chad’s tram stop. It’s not the first time dolphins have visited Blackpool and the Fylde Coast this year. Bottlenose dolphins are a rare but welcome sight off the Fylde coast, with most sightings coming in the warmer months of June and July. Adam Kluj and Vicky Hopkinson said they were four miles off the coast, around Starr Gate, when they were surrounded by the pod of bottlenose dolphins in June, 2021. The couple said they first became aware of 'something' following them in the wake of their jet ski, just below the surface of the water. They cut their motor and were left spellbound when a dolphin suddenly leaped out of the water just metres away. Moments later, more dolphins appeared and began playfully lunging in and out of the water before their eyes.
