The 10 best gifts to give over the holidays are tickets to events, a class or adventure, something autographed, a gadget, a pet, a heartfelt card or homemade gift, a trip, an instrument or hobby-related gift, self-care, and food or drinks.
Concert tickets came up again and again in our survey, making up almost a sixth of the responses.
When we asked whether people would rather receive an experience or a physical possession, 67% said they’d prefer the experience.
Tickets to events such as a concert or sporting event are a popular choice, with examples including “A Taylor Swift concert ticket!”, “Tickets to the Patriots game”, and “A ticket to Hamilton!”.
A class or adventure, such as “A gourmet cooking class with my mom”, “Skydiving”, and “Sunset cocktail cruise with my fiance” are also well-received.
Something autographed, like “A comic book autographed by Stan Lee”, “A signed Seahawks jersey”, and “A Bob Griese signed helmet” can be a unique gift.
A gadget, such as a tablet, phone, or laptop, is also a memorable gift, according to our survey.
A pet can be a great gift if you are certain it will be well-received by the recipient, with dozens of people writing in about their beloved furry, feathered, and scaly friends.
A heartfelt card or homemade gift is also appreciated, with 71% of respondents saying that they believe “it’s the thought that counts” when it comes to gifts.
A trip, such as a vacation to Disneyland, Italy, Brazil, or “a weekend in the desert” is another popular choice.
An instrument or hobby-related gift, such as a guitar, oboe, clarinet, or violin, can be a great present for a child or aspiring artist.
Self-care gifts, such as a pre-paid spa day, a massage, a yoga retreat, or a subscription to a beauty box, are also well-received.
Food or drinks, such as nice wine, treats made by loved ones, or a specific bottle of hot sauce, can be a great option if you know what your friends and family like to eat.

Flowers have been revealed as the most popular gift for 9 out of the 16 occasions analysed as you can see in the infographic above. Flowers are a perfect fit for a real mix of occasions - whether that’s showing joy, sympathy or just that you’re thinking of someone. Perhaps surprisingly, our survey has found that just over 16% of men would like to be on the receiving end of a fresh bouquet of flowers. Receiving a fresh bunch of flowers can lift everyone’s mood - whether you’re male or female, as the next graphic shows.
Who is to say that flowers are a gift exclusively for women?
Wine emerged as the most regifted item with 48% of people admitting they’d passed on a bottle they’d previously been gifted. Flowers are the least regifted items compared to stationery, books and food, however the results still show that over a third of people have regifted a bouquet of blooms.
